Forest fruits and deep dense shades are going to be the rage this season. From blackcurrent and deep rasberry to hazy taupe, dark teal, dense coppers and rust tones.

I can across one of my forest shoots that I created the makeup for and thought this was a great example of the eye popping colours being used this year. This gives me inspiration for another great forest shoot.

Fresh faced, graphic eyes, rasberry red lips and a splash of subtle silver to the corners of the eye.

1950's Inspired Bridal Look at Buckland Tout-Saints Hotel.

A beautiful vintage style wedding at Buckland Tout-Saint Hotel, situated in Kingsbridge in the stunning Devon South Hams, surrounded by 4½ acres of beautifully tended gardens and woodland.

I Was very lucky with the weather, there was a bit of cloud which is great for photographs as it defuses the light and the sun was out bringing the grounds to life.

There was a lot of makeup and skincare preparations before the big day, with a trial being done prior, I worked very closely with her in the lead up with lots of step by step instructions and helpful information.  Verity was wearing a beautiful lace and pearl dress which was knee high length and had a flattering sweetheart neckline creating a very stunning feminine finish. So to balance and compliment this I went for a classic 50's inspired look.

I only apply makeup in ambient light, making sure the client is facing the window with no shadows on her face.

I captured a side on look using the natural light against her face to show off the tones and features.

These images were taken from my phone, but as you can see her appearance is Matt, slightly dewy (in the correct places) and flawless, giving her that extra confidence when all eyes are on her.

I used several brands of makeup to suit this lady's skin type and personal preference.

Here are a list of a few of the products I carefully selected for today's bride:-

Bobbi brown skin foundation stick- Creamy yet weightless giving a seamless finish.

Bobbi brown correct & Conceal- Waterproof, light yet creamy for the delicate skin under the eyes.

smash-box photo finish primer- Lightweight blend of vitamin A, E, grapeseed extract and tea tree,

reducing fine lines, pores giving you a velvety smooth finish.

Smash-box hydrating under eye primer- This formula has an illuminating effect with added antioxidants.

NYX matt finish spray-  shin free and lightweight, keeping your makeup in tact for hours.

Illamasqua sculpting- highly pigmented, and mimics your natural skin tone for subtle definition.

High beam Benefit- creating a long lasting radiant glow for every blushing bride.

H20 magnific waterproof mascara- Provides extra volume and is 100% waterproof

I left the bride feeling confident that her makeup was going to last and a free top up essential pack .

Each bride is very individual, and it takes careful planning and collaboration to get a look that will compliment every detail of the wedding.

Autumn Location Shoot

Autumn is a great time for outdoor location shoots while the colours are rich, making an opportunity for some strong contrasts of colours. We managed to get a window of great weather so we took the opportunity to capture the soft late afternoon lighting. For me preparation is the key, so I formed a collection of ideas, sketches, photos and current on trends looks onto a board to give me a creative vision of what I wanted. Me and my husband Simon of Simon Hawkins Photography who was the photographer went through all the small details of the lighting set up, location, model, clothing and how to structure/piece it all together prior to the day.

Once this was all confirmed I then had the most exciting bit to do which is to sketch/create a look on a design sheet that I felt was going to tie all the elements together.  Turning this into reality is like creating art for me as it something I thrive on. It took me 2 hours from start to finish to go through the best outfits with the model and applying the makeup, which many people always wonder why it takes so so long to do. But trust me, if you want to look flawless for the camera it takes time to get perfect. There are so many stages to applying makeup professionally which I really take pride in getting right!

Once we got to our location, Simon always starts off by doing some test shots to ease the model into the shoot gently and it also gives me the chance to check the makeup in camera and do any adjustments before we got going. The shoot took approximately 2 hours.

Here is a selection of the finished looks of the lovely model Louise who I thought was a real pro !
